[Guest Visit] Reza Roshan at ULiège
Finally, after more than 10 years of collaboration, I met my supportive co-author Gholamreza Roshan. Reza is an outstanding climatologist and associate professor at Golestan University in Gorgan, Iran. Our first exchange was in 2013 via email, where we decided to collaborate on common topics related to bioclimatic architecture and climate change. The spoken English of Reza is nearly understandable. However, we have been communicating via email using Google Translate. We never had an online conversation or phone call before I met in Liege on the 19th of August, 2022. With more than seven common publications, our collaboration covered research problems in Iran.
We are celebrating 10 years of successful collaboration, where I learned about Iran's climatic and environmental challenges. Without a single moment of doubt or any notion of perfectionism, we established a sustainable and long-lasting relationship with a 0kEuro budget.
Every paper rejection fostered our positive-thinking mentality to improve the paper and publish it in other journals. We believed in the importance and value of what we do, and this was the best way to face any bias or prejudice during the review process. Our thriving collaboration was essential to the progress of climate-responsive architecture and urban climatology research and for the betterment of our societies. Successful collaboration relies on trust and long-standing relationships, which are hard to build with control mentalities or scientists with perfectionistic mindsets.
