Online Training: Writing journal articles

Online Training: Writing journal articles

Writing great journal articles don’t just happen. You don’t usually publish in a journal you would have chosen. Instead, you must be intentional, force yourself to write about your research, justify why it’s important, and then pursue a plan of action that accomplishes your objective.

Writing a scientific paper involves setting an achievement goal with a definable endpoint, such as finishing experiments, writing the methodology section, or handling the editor's and reviewers' hassle. But often, successful publishing of journal articles are the result of ingrained habits over time.

Start by writing a structure or outline of your paper that frames the writing and provides a clear vision of the final button line of your article. Once we have a clear paper outline, we can employ habits to make our publishing dreams real. The trick is to know when and how to use them. That’s exactly why my team and I created the course with an overarching purpose: To help you get published.

If you’re a graduate or early career researcher and want to publish and scale your publishing to build up a track record, I want to download all of the wisdom and hard-fought lessons I’ve gained over the years to you, so you can skip past the pain and cut straight to writing and publishing.

On September 15, I’m going to announce my new online course.
