[Participation Call] Launching a database for construction details disassembly evaluation
📋You have relevant building construction details that are designed for disassembly ❓
We invite you to contribute by filling in the questionnaire-based database: https://lnkd.in/e7HcEzhdWe, Enola Giannasi, Muheeb Al-Obaidy and Shady Attia, invite you to contribute to our new database for building connections and disassembly evaluation. The ultimate objective is to create a database of building connections (timber, steel, concrete, hybrid). This will enable us to:
📌Understand and know the different types of connections,
📌Collect a large number of building connections (nodes) details to calculate their potential for disassembly,
📌 Publish a report, including all participants and contributors to the database as co-authors in 2026.
📌Potentially influence construction standards and regulations relating to connections and the sustainability of buildings, as called for by the European Union by 2025.
Currently, the construction 🏗 sector (which is responsible for one-third of carbon dioxide emissions and forty percent of the world's energy use and waste production) generally proceeds along the lines of "take - make - waste." This scenario is problematic ❌. Given these environmental challenges, transitioning to sustainable and renewable construction techniques is crucial. Circularity ♻ in construction is an emerging concept that aims to transform the life cycle of buildings into a circular model. Indeed, buildings 🏢 need to be easily disassembled so that materials can be reused in new construction, thus avoiding waste 🗑 and reducing the overall ecological footprint. Therefore, the new database is part of the PhD project DeConstruction of Muheeb Al-Obaidy: https://lnkd.in/e7WQTFRu
We appreciate your participation and time. All contributors to the database will be invited as co-authors of a final report in 2026. We invite Lisa Ottenhaus, Chiara Piccardo, Rafael Passarelli, Pedro Palma, Eugenia Gasparri, Philippe Grönquist, Cäsar Grüter, Hans Hammink; Elma Durmisevic, Mike van Vliet and Cor van Dijken to participate. We thank you in advance for your participation. The image above was taken from https://lnkd.in/ehghvYrb
