[President] Doctoral College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Liège University

I have been nominated as a president (2023-2025) of the Doctoral College in Architecture and Urban Planning at Liege University, serving two faculties (schools). The Doctoral College in Architecture and Urban Planning has two sections: a section serving the students of the Faculty of Architecture and a section serving the students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

The Doctoral College is the structure that establishes the link between the doctoral student, their thesis committee and the University Administration. In particular, it is responsible for admission, equivalences, the approval of acquired knowledge and skills, the designation of the promoter, and the approval of the thesis committee and the thesis jury. Each year, the college decides on the progress of the work and on doctoral training.

The Thesis Committee is responsible for the monitoring of the scientific quality and evaluation of students throughout the duration of the doctorate. The promoter is one of them, along with other specialists in the research field.

I look forward to enhancing the doctoral colleges' internal ways of working and strengthening the training and skill set of doctoral students to prepare them to land in industry or academia. Promoting open-access publications and opening the door for article-based dissertations is one of my top priorities. The issue of resolving Ph.D. students and promoter conflicts is on the rise, and the well-being of Ph.D. students is another crucial aspect of my agenda.

Together with an excellent team of professors, Philippe Sosnowska, Benoît Vandenbulcke, Mario Cools, and Aurélie de Boissieu, we are looking forward to serving for two years.
