[Video] Data Availability Statement

This is the last video in our playlist on 🔓 Open Science in 2023. The future of science requires open access for all. The major environmental, economic, and social challenges the 🗺️ world is facing require to make science accessible and reproducible. Publicly funded scientific data must be made available to the public. Science isn't simply for the research community, it is also a democratic concern. Thus, we are at the beginning of a radical structural 🌺 culture shift! The impact of prestigious journals, which run through some editors who operate under a 'superiority and perfectionism' paradigm, is 🔻fading away. The publishing monopoly of 👎North American and 👎Western European print houses is weakening. Therefore, I invite all researchers to benefit from this change and focus on 🔻creating new knowledge and 🎯advancing science. New PhD candidates should join the open science movement to bring merit to their contributions as authors. In this context, we presented a playlist on 🔓 Open Science with more than 14 videos. We invite you to watch them, including the DAS video.

A Data Management Plan or Data Availability Statement (DAS) specifies how research data 📊 will be handled during and after a 📂research project. It identifies key actions and strategies to ensure that research data are high-quality, secure, sustainable, and – to the extent possible – accessible and reusable. I explain why and how to develop a Data Management Plan in this video. Creating a DAS is considered good practice for any 🎓research project using or generating data. After all, planning is the first step toward proper research data management. It is even obligatory for many journal article submissions and funding agencies.
